Could this picture be the first image of the flat design Jony Ive is reportedly bringing to iOS7?
According to iDownloadBlog, the picture shows the home page of an iPhone running an alpha version of the new operating system. The authenticity of the image can not be verified.
It admits it is from a very old version and things may have changed.
If the image does turn out to be authentic, then it is evidence that the rumours Jony Ive is seeking to remove all signs of skeuomorphism and gloss in favour of a 'flat design' are true.
According to the blog, "When you look at the current state of stock apps icons, it seems that all of them were designed by different teams.
"Most of them have a different look. They don’t have unified features that tie them all up together. Some of them have a gloss effect. Some of them don't. Some of them have borders. Some of them don't, etc…
"From what we’ve seen, we believe Jony Ive's touch on iOS 7 will homogenize the look of Apple’s stock apps icons."
iOS 7 will be officially unveiled next week at WWDC
What does everyone want to do with YouTube? Why, watch it of course! And when can’t you do that? During bedtime scenes with a loved one? Nah, you can totally get away with that if you’re sneaky. No, the answer is offline – YouTube loves a connection.
This app is pretty self explanatory: you can download YouTube videos and watch them again later when you’re not so busy. However, while this is better than ‘Wallpapers’ (which seems to be made by the same app house but simply doesn’t work) it does have limited functionality .
For instance, you can only download videos you search for, meaning any of the featured offerings are just frozen and unable to be tapped by your fair digit.
There’s also the issue that you can’t actually see the current top-trending vids. For instance, there was no sight of ‘Gangnam Style’ when searching the most viewed music videos… hello, a billion views people?
And there’s the actual viewing interface: you can’t look at it in the main media viewer of your phone, meaning it has to be done in the app… and you can’t scroll through the movie you’ve downloaded.
In fairness, when it works it’s an acceptable app – but YouTube downloaded doesn’t hold a candle to the likes of JetVD on Android.
Reports suggest HTC may be planning to launch a Nexus edition of its flagship smartphone.........
HTC may be planning to follow Samsung's lead and launch a version of the HTC One running stockAndroid.
Reporting in Geek, Russell Holly claims sources have said HTC are working on a version of its flagship smartphone that will ship without its Sense software.
Holly added that a US launch is "imminent".
He previously leaked that Samsung was preparing to launch an stock Android version of its Galaxy S4before it was officially announced at Google I/O last week.
However, previous comments from senior HTC executives have cast doubt on whether a device without the company's Sense software would reach phone buyers.
Speaking with The Verge last year, HTC's chief product officer Kouji Kodera said that the company is "very proud of HTC Sense" and would "like to continue shipping it on every device".
However, Kodera was one of the many employees that left HTC earlier this year.
It is unclear if Kodera left because of a change in the the management of HTC's approach to Sense or for other reasons.
While the HTC One has been well received critically and by the public, sales have still lagged significantly behind those of rivals Samsung and Apple.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini may boast a smaller screen and slightly lower specs but Samsung will be looking to offer a handset that has the same experience
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini has just become official ahead of what was believed to be its original unveiling on June 20th. This bite-sized Galaxy S4 was believed to be launching along with the much-rumoured Samsung Galaxy S4 Active.
Specs-wise you'll find everything is present and upper to mid-range. There's a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display along with the same small-bezel design found on the Samsung Galaxy S4.
Inside there's a 1.7GHz dual-core processor along with 1.5GB of RAM to keep it multi-tasking. Unfortunately (or fortunately if you disliked them) Samsung has removed a lot of the software features that came with the S4 such as Smart Scroll.
What you do get to keep however is the 8MP camera on the back and there's a 1.9MP front-facing camera for video calls. Storage is 5GB however you expand that via the microSD slot up to a significantly more impressive 64GB.
The S4 Mini has a UK release date of July and will be landing in the UK after Phones4U confirmed that they would be stocking the upcoming smartphone.
The S4 Mini is following on from the the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini, and whilst the S3 Mini received less than ecstatic reviews it would appear as though Samsung is looking to correct any and all shortcomings with this latest smartphone.
Vodafone has revealed a bit more information on when its customers can expect a 4G upgrade - and it's sooner rather than later
Vodafone has revealed it is planning a 4G rollout by late summer 2013 and has announced it will be investing £900m to bring together its fixed and mobile infrastructure in what it calls a "seamless network".
Earlier in the year, Vodafone bought £802m-worth of 800MHz broadband in the Ofcom 4G auction. The company also stumped up £1bn for Cable & Wireless Worldwide plc back in 2012 which will provide the fibre optics for the new infrastructure.
Now, with this added investment, the network looks to be pulling out all the stops to get ahead of rival networks like Three and O2 which will join EE in offering 4G coverage later this year.
"This investment is great news for customers and further evidence of our commitment to deliver our best ever network," said Guy Laurence, CEO of Vodafone UK.
"It is also great news for the country. We're investing in vital national infrastructure that can help play an important role in supporting growth in the wider economy," he said.
According to Ofcom, 98% of the homes in the UK will be capable of receiving a 4G signal by 2016, although at present, only the very latest flagship smartphones are capable of making the connection.
Vodafone hasn't been more specific about when in the summer it will launch its 4G offering, but perhaps it's right around the time we could be expecting a new, 4G-ready iPhone 5S from Apple?
HTC One will apparently be updating its Android OS to 4.2.2 with HTC UI Sense 5.0, not the rumoured Sense 5.1, and other notably changes
According to a report by Android Revolution, HTC One users can expect an update from the current Android 4.1 to 4.2.2, but the date is unsure.
Some changes worth noting in the new OS update are the inclusion of a percentage battery icon enabled under Settings > Power > Show battery level, Android EQS (or Equalizer) controls turned on in the upper right corner of the notification menu, latest HTC update Android Daydream, long press home button operates as menu button, and a new update to Sense 5.0 being the removal of icons from the dock.
The long press home button usually operates as Google Now - the service telling you what's happening in life before you start your day, i.e. what you're doing, where you need to go, and how to get around. The service has recently been introduced on iPhone and iPad.
The HTC One was unveiled earlier this year as the company's new flagship smartphone hosting a bundle of features including a 4.7-inch screen with a full HD resolution, 4MP camera, and two front-facing speakers for stereo sound.
Vine may already have 13 million users but for Twitter that's clearly just the start as the inventive video-sharing app is now heading to Android smartphones
Twitter has now launched Vine for Android with the video-sharing app now available to download via the Google Play store for smartphones boasting Android 4.0+.
The app won't be as fully-fledged as the iOS version with a lack of support for the front-facing camera and some other missing features however Twitter has confirmed that from the outset it will have one key function that won't be available on iPhone: The ability to zoom.
Over the coming weeks Twitter will be boosting the app with more updates to bring it on par with the iOS version including support for the front-facing camera, hashtags and more.
Twitter has also confirmed that it will be working to bring features to the Android version which could only work on Google's operating system. Making a rare appearance in the blog post was Google's exclusive Samsung Galaxy S4 Nexus Edition
Since the mobile market took off and smartphones became an unrivalled commodity it seems that there has been an app invented to help with everything. There are more in depth calendars, ways to track your weight loss, apps to teach you how to play cards and even apps from specific shops so you can purchase on the move. Apps to teach you how to play cards and casino games have come from the huge boost the industry has received since the invention of mobile gaming. Advantage blackjack is one way to learn how to become a master at the game and earn some extra pocket money at your favourite casino. Reviews have hailed the app as incredible with one user saying: “[it’s] everything you need to become an excellent blackjack player.” If you’re new to blackjack don’t worry, as the app is specifically designed to turn novices and first time players into pros with the help of a little training. By incorporating basic strategy training and card counting you can learn all the skills you need and test your abilities during realistic practice games until you feel confident enough to play with your hard earned cash at a casino. Card counting is somewhat of a grey area with many casinos as it is not specifically cheating – not that we would ever condone such a thing – but it is frowned upon and generally disliked. With options to tailor the game rules to those used at your local casino, it’s ideal to have open alongside your game for a few extra tips and tricks. These apps have become rather popular and some online casinos have started to cotton on to the fact that they are being used.www.galacasino.com is one of a few casinos that are not currently looking out for players using these types of apps. There are two versions of the app – one free and one that is to be purchased. As with all things digital the free version is a slight downgrade of the purchased one; the paid-only features give you the ability to: count more than three cards at a time; simulate live play counting; simulate unbalanced counting systems; create counting systems defined by the user as well as being completely ad-free. Whether you want to learn a new skill or make a little extra cash, why not check out what other apps are available to improve your knowledge?
